Back to school!
Hi-hi everyone! Lucy here. Sorry for the lack of posts. Last Monday was my human's (Bre/BuckinghamAlice, for those who don't know) birthday and she's been busy and whatnot, so you know how it is.
Well, this Monday was the first day of school here, and I was super nervous. I'm in the 6th grade and this was my first day at my new school in Bakersfield. Not only that, but my new school is a private all-girls school, and I've only ever been to public co-ed schools. Luckily, Keisha and I were both going to the same school (and would both be new kids). She was just as nervous as I was, so we spent a long time in the days before Monday talking about what we would wear, what we would bring, and everything like that.
When Monday morning came, Keisha's mom drove us the fifteen minutes across town from our regular middle to upper middle class neighbor to the bona fide ritzy area. Keisha and I are in the same class (thank goodness!). Our teacher is named Miss Anne Demello, but she told us all to call her Anne. She's fairly young and really pretty, but best of all, she's really nice. Keisha and I both like the school a lot, but we haven't made any other friends yet. Most of these girls have been going to this school since kindergarten, and it's a pretty small school, so they all know each other well. No one has been mean to either of us, but they haven't been nice either. One of the girls is having a birthday party this weekend, and Keisha and I are the only ones in our whole class who didn't get invited. We're not too upset by it, but it would have been nice to get invited to a party. We decided to have our own party this weekend. A sleepover -- just the two of us, a bell pepper and olive pizza, and a huge stack of DVDs. We're going to have a lovely time and not think about school. =)
And since the pic at the top of the post is a closeup, here's a full length shot of Keisha and me on our way out the door on the first morning of school:

Hi Lucy! Oh sleepovers are SO much fun! I wish I could go to your party too! Pizza = yummy, the best snack ever invented! You guys have an awesome time together and take pics!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the birthday girl is shy and that's why she didn't invite you. If not, well, she's missing from making two new great friends.
I love the clothes you both chose for school, they are so cool! :D
Hugs!
Ava
Thanks Ava! I never thought about the possibility that she might be shy. She seems super forward and confident, so I don't know. We'll see, I guess!
ReplyDeleteHey, this is Summer. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou girls look great in your school clothes! It's cool that you two are in the same class.
I'm glad no one was mean to you, but it's a shame they weren't nicer.
I wonder about the birthday party thing, though - maybe the girl wouldn't have been allowed to invite more guests without her mom's permission, especially at the last minute if they already bought the supplies and stuff.
I still wish she had, but maybe the girl just didn't know what to do, since she would have had no way of planning on new students in class and couldn't ask her parents right then.
Sounds like your own party will be just as fun, though! :-)
Love,
Summer
P.S. Tell your human happy birthday from us and from Blakeney! :-)
Tell your human happy birthday from all of us and Crazy Doll Lady ..
ReplyDeleteIt is sooooooo fun to have sleep overs .. Mama has been letting Sophie, Mara, and I sleep in the Library together since Sophie came in .. it is the only room right now that is big enough fo all of us to sleep in and be able to visit.
We love sleep overs .. pizza is great too .. and we always have to have Rootbeer floats because that is the way Mama's Grandee did. LOL!! It is a memory thing for mama.
Hope you get some great friends once you find your spot in the school .. do they have any after school activities you can get involved with so that you get to know more girls?
Laters,
Taryn
Summer - That is possible. She may have been in a tough spot herself. I guess we'll see!
ReplyDeleteTaryn - Rootbeer floats are amazing! As for school activities, I'm really into sports and will be joining several teams, and Keisha will be trying out for cheerleader. And apparently next week is club sign-up week, so maybe something interesting will pop out at me! =)
Hello, Lucy. Your outfits are adorable. I have to wear a uniform so I never get to look quite as cute. But Daddy always does my hair in fancy styles to make up for the uniform.
ReplyDeleteI am the new girl at school this year also. I think it takes students some time to get used to being back in school and warm up to new students. I would not worry about no one being real nice yet. As long as no one is mean, you should make friends as everyone adjusts.
Hope you both have a great year!

Hi Angelica! Thanks! I'm hoping you're right... hopefully things will improve soon. =)
