Playing Dress-Up

Hiya, readers!  Lucy-chan here. =)  Sorry to have kept you all hanging for nearly a week... I've been busy with Keisha... we've had so much fun, I've hardly touched my laptop!

As the title suggests, yesterday, Keisha and I spent the whole morning playing dress-up.  I know you may be thinking that we're a little old for that sort of thing, but seriously... no matter how old you are, putting on different clothes and imagining you're somewhere or someone else is good clean fun!  Keisha and I took a quick snapshot in our favorite outfits.

Keisha is a colonial girl, and I tried on a sailor suit.  I liked it because it reminds me of the school uniforms lots of girls in Japan wear!  =)

Oh, and as a follow up from my last post, I talked to my brother about why he lied to me.  I was very calm and rational and direct.  And do you know what he said?  He pinched my cheek and called me adorable!  How patronizing!  I didn't pursue the issue any further.  In the comments last time, Kirsten asked if I thought maybe Dylan was romantically interested in one of the people he was with.  I think that's what's going on.  Lately he's been taking lots of private phone calls and going out most evenings.  He's been dressing much more fashionably when he goes out as well.  When we ask where he's going he just says he'll be with friends.  Suspicious!  In the past, he's told me all about his girlfriends... we tell each other pretty much everything.  Maybe he'll take me into his confidence again...

And Inky asked on my last post what was my favorite part of HP 7.2.  I loved anything with my favorite character Neville and my favorite couple Ron and Hermione!  =)  It was such a wonderful movie.  I kinda want to go see it again!

Went to see Harry Potter... saw him and then some...

Konnichiwa!  I think I mentioned in my last post that my friend Keisha and I were going with my dad to see the last Harry Potter film.  Well, we went last night (Sunday) and we all loved it!  We went to a little local Italian restaurant before hand (I had a chicken alfredo calzone that was huge and Keisha had lasagna... we both split our meal in half and swapped with one another... yum!).  The theater we went to was really big and had two arcades, so we played DDR and Guitar Hero before we saw the movie.  My dad tried to win us a prize from the claw machine, but he couldn't... he ran out of quarters and said the machine was rigged! =P

Well, when we finally went in to see the movie, we sat way up in the top of the theater so we could see the whole screen without stretching our necks.  The theater was pretty packed, even though the movie has been out for a while.  But you know what?  We all loved it!  It was pretty wonderful.

When we came out of the theater, though, I had a pretty big shock.  I had asked my brother Dylan  that morning if he wanted to come with us, but he said he was going to stay home and read.  But when we were coming out of the theater, I saw him and two girls (twins his age) walking out of the ice cream place across from the theater.  Why would he lie to me?  I can understand if he had plans, and I get that he needs his space and privacy and stuff, but that's no reason to be downright dishonest.  =/  I want to confront him, but what could I say?  I don't want him to be mad at me.  Whenever we fight, I always end up crying... then Dad gets mad at Dylan and he gets even madder at me.  Ugh, brothers!!

My new friend Keisha

When I lived in Boston, I had a few friends, but no really good friends.  I'm kind of shy, so it's hard for me to get to know people.  I was scared when we moved... I just thought I wouldn't be able to make friends.  So I really got lucky... and it really was my dumb luck!

A while back, on the day we moved in, I standing in the front yard getting a look at our new house.

When I was in the yard, I noticed that the house next door had a lot of boxes by the trash can as if the people who lived there had just moved in as well.  After a while, while we were still trying to settle into the house with  the little stuff we had with us, there was a knock at the door.

This was when I met my new friend Keisha.  Her family has just moved to town recently as well, and she didn't really know any other kids.  Well, we talked for a long time... she's really nice!  She's kind of shy too, so neither one of us expected too much from the other... and that made it a lot easier.  It turns out that Keisha and I are the same age, and when school starts back, we'll be in the same grade and the same school.  I'm so happy that I know someone here!

Keisha and I have been playing together everyday since then.  She's a lot of fun, and better company than almost anyone else I know.  The last two days, we've been having a Harry Potter movie marathon.  Neither of us has seen the new one, so my dad is going to take us both this weekend!  We're even going to dinner first.  I'm really excited!

The only thing that would have made the Harry Potter thing better would be if my brother Dylan was coming.  But even though we've only lived here a short while, Dylan has already met a group of kids his age... he went to the midnight showing on opening night with a girl, and he has a date with her this weekend.  Is it wrong to hope that he doesn't get some girlfriend who's going to steal him away from me?   I mean, I already lost my dad to my mean old step-mom...

Hello, world! It's little Lucy!

Hello to anyone who may be reading this!  At the recommendation of my dad, I've started a blog to tell my story to the world... if anyone cares.

My name is Lucy Ryoko Nakamura, although I'm known to some as Lucy-chan, Luce, Goosey, or just plain Lucy.  I'm 11 years old and I was born and raised in Boston.  I live with my wonderful dad, my big brother Dylan (who I actually like... just don't tell him I said so!), and my wicked step-mother, Lily.  My mother died when I was a baby, and several months ago my father remarried.  Neither Dylan nor I like Lily very much... she waltzes into our lives at this late stage and expects us both to embrace her as our mother... but that isn't the case.

Last month, things worsened.  My dad's job transferred him to Bakersfield, CA... a hot city a couple of hours away from Los Angeles.  I wasn't excited... I love Boston.  Everything is old and full of history.  New England has a certain charm you can't find anywhere else.  I'm sure California has it's good points, but I'm not ready to see them yet.  I'm still sad about never being able to go with Dylan to another Red Sox game at Fenway... never being able to take the ferry to Nantucket... everything I used to love is behind me.

My dad is really trying to make things easy on everyone though.  He's promised to take us to Disneyland and the beach this summer.  And our new house is sort of nice.  I got to pick my bedroom first, and when I have everything set up like I want it, I'll show it to you.

Anyways, hope my first post wasn't too boring... I plan to post regularly and hopefully make some friends.

TTFN!
